Corsettery Sponsored Review

Hello, my fellow internet bloggers! Today's review is brought to you by Corsettery on Etsy.  I was contacted by the company via Instagram about promoting this corset dress.  On Instagram, I had been following them for awhile and saw that they had a post featuring the corset dress. The caption said something along the lines of using the corset dress to cosplay as Belle for the new Beauty and the Beast movie.  Having a soft spot for Beauty and the Beast, I commented saying that I had played Belle in my local theatre's production of Beauty and the Beast. As well as telling them the product was beautiful. Awhile later, I received a direct message from Corsettery saying I did resemble Belle and if I could do something with the corset dress.  Here we are today with a cosplay featuring the corset dress as well as a review!

The corset size I received was a 22 inch, which is when it is fully laced.  Later on, I realized I should have gotten a 24 inch due to realizing the company where I get other corsets may size a bit bigger.  Or that the material was leather compared to the normal cotton/satin that I'm used to. We'll talk more about that later.  Upon arrival, the corset was safe within its plastic packaging.  The only imperfection that was on it was a small black scuff that I only noticed on close inspection.  There was a distinct leather and chemical smell but that quickly went away.  With any new corset, I was excited about trying it on so that is just what I did.

Trying this style of corset was a bit of an adventure.  With two different sets of laces to keep from tangling, you defiantly want to do this in front of the mirror for your first couple goes.   While putting it on, it was much stiffer than other corsets that I have seasoned (broken in).  This could be due to it being made out of genuine leather and not cotton or satin that I'm used to.  The inner lining of the corset is cotton which is more comfortable when it rests on the skin.  It took a couple weeks before it was easier to get in and out of the corset dress.  As of writing this post, I'm unable to fully lace the corset but I'm getting there.  I can, however, fully lace the bottom half of the dress which is my butt and thighs.  Even without the corset being fully laced at the top, it fit my figure nicely.  My breasts weren't flattened and gave them a nice little boost.  Also, my figure was shown off and my tummy flattened.  I was worried that I wouldn't be confident wearing the dress but in fact, it made me confident in it.  This was also my first overbust corset which played into me being worried how I would look in it.

When wearing the corset out to the first convention,  I had a bit of difficulty getting in and out of the car.  This was to be expected since it not only restricts my upper body movement but also my hip movement.  Keeping the lower half loosely laced helped with this and was nice for walking around and posing.  The day that I went to the convention, the temperature was around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  I was expecting to sweat like there was no tomorrow due to the corset and for the yellow dye to stain my skin.  To my surprise, the corset didn't make me feel overheated and didn't stain my skin at all!  Neither cotton or the leather irritated my skin which was also another surprise to me since I'm sensitive to how clothing can feel.

Honestly, I'd love to be able to purchase one of Corsettery's underbust corsets.  From my experience, they have wonderful customer service and are super sweet.  It was a speedy process from creation time to the corset being in my hands.  The product was just as what they were advertising and was comfortable to wear out and about.  Even with this being a corset dress, I was able to move around much easier than what I expected.  Overall, I'm highly pleased with this product.  This is one corset shop you definitely want to check out!  Make sure to check out their Etsy Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
