April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

Hello fellow internet bloggers!  I hope you all enjoyed your month of April and didn't get too wet with those April showers that bring May flowers.  It is time for the monthly review of my Ipsy subscription.  For those who don't know Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that costs about $10 each month.  With each month you receive a small makeup bag and 4-5 travel size samples.  Each month, there is a theme and with this theme that is showed off with the bag and products.  To get products you're interested in, you create a profile with what you're looking for.  Don't worry though, your able to re-customize your profile at any time!  Plus after a few weeks, you're able to review the products you received so Ipsy knows how to put together your next month's bag.  Enough with the technicalities, let's get onto the review!

April's theme was side show that had a bag that was absolutely adorable.  The bag that people received this month was a red-orange ticket that felt like faux leather.  Though this bag is incredibly cute, it isn't as amazing as last month's bag.  That's okay though because I don't know if any other bag from Ipsy will be able to top it!  Within the bag, I received five different products.  This month's range of products was nicely spread and I was super excited to get my hands on them.

The first product is MintPear's Vitamin C Serum.  I was stocked to be able to use this product but was sadly let down.  I've recently really become a fan of serums and have been experimenting with different brands and types.  When I tried this serum out, I wasn't able to get past the first use of it.  The consistency was a bit too watery for me but what really got me was how it made my skin feel.  Once I had applied the serum and allowed it to sink in, my skin was left feeling gross and sticky.  When I lightly pressed my fingers to my face, my face skin actually stuck to my fingers.  A pro to this serum though is that it doesn't really have a scent.  Personally, I don't mind products with scents but if you do mind, this might be a good option for you!

My second product is one that I was definitely on the fence about.  I received the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow.  When I saw this on my bag
preview I was a bit annoyed.  I've had similar shadows sent to me in which I had already told Ipsy that I wasn't a fan of getting these products.  Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I still tried it out when I received it.  Instead of using it as a shadow, I decided to use it as a highlight.  Was I surprised when I tried it!  I thought that it wouldn't give me the pop of glow that I was looking for but was I wrong.  With a couple swirls of my brush on the pan and transferred onto my face, I looked like I was alive!  It gave the high points on my face that little pop of something extra without me looking too blinding.  Honestly, I haven't even tried using it as a shadow since I'm in love with it as a highlight.

The third product is EM Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner Brush Tip.  This is from Michelle Phan's line reboot.  I own one of her lipsticks and had high hopes for this eyeliner.  I'm always on the hunt for a new liquid eyeliner and was banking on this one being a hit.  Sadly though, it wasn't for me.  The color wasn't as opaque as I like.  It took a couple goes for the liner to get close to how I like the color to be in one pass.  As someone who is waiting till the last minute to get ready for class in the morning, I don't have the time to go over my liner a couple times to get it to the right color consistency.  With the other liners I use, I'm able to get the shape and color I need in one swipe.  Plus this liner is a bit too streaky for me as well.

My fourth product I was excited for.  I received touch in SOL's No Poreblem! Primer.  I've grown an interest in trying Asian beauty products and was excited when I saw that I was able to try this out.  Honestly, I have nothing negative to say about this primer!  It goes on smooth and leaves your face feeling nice.  It doesn't feel too solicony or too slimy/watery.  The primer fills in your pores nicely which I was a bit surprised about since I have slightly large pores around my nose and upper part of the apples of my cheeks.  I haven't noticed a smell with this primer either which doesn't really affect my opinion of it but may for others.

Finally, the fifth product brings back childhood memories.  I was lucky enough to receive the pre-launch of Glamour Dolls' Glamour Doll x Liza Frank Angle Blush Brush!  When I found out I was receiving the brush, I wasn't expecting much out of its quality.  I thought it would be more of a collector's item than an actually working brush (if that makes sense).  Boy did this brush prove me wrong.  The bristles are incredibly soft and transfer pigment nicely.  There wasn't a chemical factory smell trapped in the bristles either which is a major plus for me.  The handle is made of what seems like solid plastic with the Liza Frank design on it.  What caught my attention at first wasn't the handle but the metal bit that connects the bristles and handle.  This metal bit is rose gold and I'm such a sucker for this color.  Overall, the brush is amazing and not that gaudy in looks.

In the end, I was a bit disappointed with this month's bag.  That is okay though because that's part of the game with subscription services.  You're not going to like every month's products but that makes other months even more awesome that you really enjoy.  I'm definitely excited to see what May's bag will have in store for us since summer is fast approaching (which is my favorite season!).  Did you receive April's bag?  If so what did you think of it and what did you receive?  As always please feel free to comment down below of message me with any questions or comments you may have.

Survive until next time my fellow internet bloggers!
